I am generating a figure with header text lines, a log-log plot and a summary table of numeric values. I then print this figure to a postscript file for conversion into PDF. I wish to use the fill command to shade the background of every other line in the summary table to make it easier to read. Once I use the fill command, two things happen:
1.) The size of the resulting postscript file increases from ~25 KB to ~11 MB.
2.) The text on the page becomes blurry/fuzzy.

Is there some setting I can change to clear up the text?
