Running 10.5.8 on a G4, iTunes 9, and QT Player 7.6.4.

I have downloaded and installed the XiphQT 0.1.9 plugin for QuickTime,
which is supposed to enable the playing of .flac lossless audio files in
iTunes and QuickTime. But it doesn't seem to work. iTunes just won't
import any .flac files, and QuickTime gives me a "The movie could not be
opened. The file is not a movie file" error.

I have installed the plugin in /Library/Components and tried again in
~/Library/Components. No dice.

I downloaded the plugin from here: http://www.xiph.org/quicktime/

What am I doing wrong?

I visited to web site and it only mentions Ogg files, nothing about
handling .flac files.

You are right - googling "flac itunes mac" was just leading me to that
page. I found this page, downloaded and istalled this as well as the
other, and now all is well. Thanks!

I spoke too soon. QT Player now plays .flac files just fine, but iTunes
still ignores them. I found a thing called Fluke, I'll see how that
goes.
