The debian-live "rescue" CD is much more than the usual linux rescue CD.
Those of us who date back before the graphic user interface will
recognize it as a full-fledged, complete unix system. As of version
5.03, it now includes gfortran.

but it is confusing to say the least.
Very unclear which one to use.
