From: weekend on 16 Nov 2008 11:16 My notebook just went mute. According to the audio section of the control panel I have no audio device. On the Sounds hardware list, all items are working except the "Conexant high Definition Audio-Venice 5046, location 65535(Internal Definition Audio Bus). It says to reinstall the drivers for this device (Code 18)." Where on Microsoft's download site do I go to download this? I can't find it.
From: Charlie Russel - MVP on 16 Nov 2008 11:47 The drivers can usually be downloaded from your OEM's support site, or may have been included by the OEM as part of the support materials and files that came with your laptop. Microsoft is not the source for drivers, generally, though some may be distributed via Microsoft Update. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "weekend" <weekend(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:89ECF895-A94E-498C-BDD2-667954C909EF(a)microsoft.com... > My notebook just went mute. From: Bobby Johnson on 16 Nov 2008 11:51 You have go to the Manufacturer's web site for the brand of laptop and find the download page for your specific model of laptop. If your laptop has Windows XP x64 or Vista x64 you need to download the drivers for that system. Microsoft does not supply the drivers for Conexant audio hardware. weekend wrote: > My notebook just went mute. According to the audio section of the control > panel I have no audio device. From: Tony Sperling on 16 Nov 2008 14:17 Or, simply use the system CD that came with your machine? This may not be the most recent, but it should work and can be updated later. Tony. . .
