I don't know if I should delete/uninstall cs2 first of just try to
install cs4 overtop or along side of the existing cs2. I have a
photosharpener program/plugin in the cs2.

just wondering?

Thanks

you can install one without removing the other

I do that until I am fully comfortable with the new version

I deleted CS2 before installing CS4. A disaster! I lost my preferences
and the other settings, most importantly my actions.

If you install CS4 first, you will also loose preferences and actions.
Peferences are not transfered between versions, and you have to manually
save your actions first in order to transfer them from one version to
another. Plugins can sometimes be moved manually from the old plugins
folder to the new one, but some plugins need to be reinstalled.
