From: Peter Lawlor on 27 Oct 2006 04:35 Right, Hey people. Little help with sysprep... I could be doing something wrong, and have tried so many ways. But, it seems that the sound device isn't getting detected, and doesnt show up in the device manager. I have two SysprepMassStorage pci' listings for this type of motherboard. pci\ven_8086&dev_27c0 = c:\windows\inf\ich7ide.inf pci\ven_8086&dev_27df = c:\windows\inf\ich7ide.inf With only one, it fails, but with both it works. then under my unattended, i have InstallFilesPath=c:\sysprep\I386 OemInstall=Yes OemPnPDriversPath=sysprep\I386\c;...\n;....\s;....\v; then within each \c\; \v\; etc, they be other directories numbered, from 1 to how many different drivers they are... this is my first time, putting the chipset (c), drivers in sysprep. and without the chipset driver, the IDE/ATA device list, will be wrong and will say "Standard Dual Channel something or other" but with the chipset in the sysprep, it will say "Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 family) Ultra etcetc - 27DF" and the other one "Intel(R) 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7 fmaily) Serial etcetc - 27C0" So obvisously, the chipset is getting installed... i think. But, I have put the ethernet drivers, graphics driver in the sysprep too, (under n for network, and v for video)... they they don't get installed, but yet the Video Controller is listed under "display adapters, and not "other devices"... What I don't get is, why the sound device isn't listed? plus, why arent the VGA and ethernet not getting installed. What am I doing wrong? Some may say, I might have the wrong chipset driver, but I have downloaded the chipset driver from intel for this motherboard, and copied ALL files inside to sysprep\I386\c\ (which includes, ich3/4/5/6/7 inf's cat's and etc) But surely throughout the sysprep, it will detect the correct inf file and use that to insyall the required devices... Any advice will appreciated. Although, in the pci\ven stuff above, i have only copied over ich7ide.inf to the windows\inf directory, would i need to copy over other files, that the inf needs to continue to install other devices, or something? e.g. in the ich7ide.inf file it says "CatalogFile=ich7ide.cat" Should I add the file also to the windows\inf directory? Also in the chipset directory in the sysprep, theres a directory called SP, with "ich7id2.inf" which contains the above pci\ven 27DF stuff... Thanks Peter Lawlor

Try http://www.leinss.com/uniimg.html. My guess is it's hitting some OEMX.INF files in C:\windows\inf. If you clear those out, I bet it will find your devices. (which was the sound device - i used the everest program i found on your website. (very useful tool)... well, apparently, it said, it has missing or corrupt files... well, i can't do no more, the machine isn't in my hands anymore... (someone has claimed it.. - and i did a windows repair on the amchine, and everything works afterwards... but no success in the image..) thanks anyway :) Peter L
