From: jt august on 12 Sep 2009 17:17 When I went to iTunes 8, it modified my playlist so that I could not share it with my beige g3 itunes, limited to version 6 under Jaguar, thus creating an annoyance I still dislike. Does an upgrade to iTunes 9 do anything to inhibit sharing with iTunes 8 which my G3 imac running Tiger is limited to? If so, does the iTunes 8.2.1 I see has just been released work around that limitation so that I can still share my library on my older Macs? jt

I can still share music between iTunes 8 and 9, both ways, over my local network. -- Tom "Tom" Harrington Independent Mac OS X developer since 2002 http://www.atomicbird.com/

I feel safe on this upgrade, then. Thanks. jt

A related question. On my Tiger system, every time I fire up iTunes (8.2.1) it says there's a new version available. If I say yes to the update it launches Software Update, and SU claims all my software is up to date. Is iTunes 9 only available for Leopard onwards? I can also confirm that I can share music between iTunes 8 and 9 over my local network. -- Paul Sture |
