From: ray mc on 17 Feb 2010 10:13 Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to learn access? I know nothing at this point, but must learn it. I was at the same point last month with excel and found this site: http://www.learnmicrosoftexcel.com/free_tutorials/free_tutorials_with_video.htm I paid $14.00 for the cd and learned excel in less than a month. Mike Smart created this cd for someone who knew nothing about excel and it was great! I need something like that. I bought Access 2007 video from Alison Balter and soon realized that video series was for someone that was already familiar with access. I bought " Plain & Simple" office Word book and that worked for learning Word, but I already had the basics for Word. I need something very basic to learn Access, any help would be appreciated!

From: KenSheridan via AccessMonster.com on 17 Feb 2010 11:27 When I started using Access 13 years ago the first book I bought was John Viescas's 'Running Microsoft Access' which I found to be an excellent and comprehensive general purpose primer. Take a look at the following Amazon link for its latest incarnation as 'Microsoft Office Access 2007 Inside Out': http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-Office-Access-2007-Inside/dp/0735623252/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1266423324&sr=8-4 From the reviews it looks like it would fit the bill. Here are some resources. My friend John Viescas' _Inside Out_ book is certainly a good choice, but there are lots of others. If you have a good bookstore accessible you might want to spend an hour just looking through a stack of books on the program to find one that fits your learning style. Here are some links: Jeff Conrad's resources page: http://www.accessmvp.com/JConrad/accessjunkie/resources.html The Access Web resources page: http://www.mvps.org/access/resources/index.html Roger Carlson's tutorials, samples and tips: http://www.rogersaccesslibrary.com/ A free tutorial written by Crystal: http://allenbrowne.com/casu-22.html A video how-to series by Crystal: http://www.YouTube.com/user/LearnAccessByCrystal MVP Allen Browne's tutorials: http://allenbrowne.com/links.html#Tutorials -- John W.
