does anyone know an "easy" way to link FIELDS set up in one Word
document to appear in another Word document. Both documents are a mix
of text, some tables and some Form stuff like drop down tables etc.

INCLUDETEXT fields provide an easy way to insert contents from one document
into another. See
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/tblsfldsfms/includetextfields.htm which may not be
updated for Word 2007 (in Word 2007, you can access the Insert File dialog
box via Insert tab | Object | Text from File).

Note, however, that a protected form will no longer be protected if you
insert it via an INCLUDETEXT field.
