From: Sheahan on 6 May 2010 22:40 After I installed Excel 2003 on my machine, our IT guy also installed Excel 2007. Unfortunately 2007 now wants to be the 'default' version when I export from other (non-Microsoft) applications and the files open automatically. As I'm using Windows 7 and couldn't get Outlook 2003 to work, I have Outlook 2007 running, so don't want to remove Office 2007 from my machine. I've run into problems before by removing single applications from Office, so am wary of doing this. Is there another solution?
From: FSt1 on 7 May 2010 00:06 hi by default, windows looks as the last version installed as the default version. re-install 2003 so windows will think that it was the last version installed. regards FSt1 "Sheahan" wrote: > After I installed Excel 2003 on my machine, our IT guy also installed Excel > 2007. From: Gary Keramidas on 7 May 2010 00:47 go to help in 2003 and select detect an repair. when it's complete, you will then default to 2003. you may also have to edit the registry. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options create a new dword value name it NoReReg set the value to 1 this will keep 2007 from registering the file type with itself. -- Gary Keramidas Excel 2003 "Sheahan" <Sheahan(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:32288CB8-14BB-4B11-949D-021AA3A78533(a)microsoft.com... > After I installed Excel 2003 on my machine, our IT guy also installed > Excel > 2007. From: Dave Peterson on 7 May 2010 09:05 Windows will use the last version installed as the default, but you shouldn't have to reinstall the version you want. I'd try this first: Close Excel and Windows Start Button|Run "c:\yourpathtoxl2003\excel" /regserver Sheahan wrote: > > After I installed Excel 2003 on my machine, our IT guy also installed Excel > 2007.
