As Jim Higgins said, the "Message" fonts apply to both preview pane and message windows. There are two fonts -- one for "proportional" (variable width) display, and one for "fixed width" display, either of which can occur in any message (and are toggled in message windows by a tool button). However, if you are sent HTML mail, the sender may have specified fonts, which will prevail unless you remove the sender's formatting. --

Aha! Both were the sources of my problem. I had overlooked 'proportional' and some of the light in mail texts were due to the sender. Thanks you |
