I _do_ get the DVD iso, but never BURN it. I just mount the iso file with "-o loop" instead and then do the install/update to "another partition". PS: the reason the MD5 sums are different on the DVD themself is probably that because the disk is BOOTABLE there is more than one track in the iso file, while "md5sum /dev/dvd" likely only tests a single track (when you MOUNT it you get the "data" track, when you BOOT it you get the isolinux "boot" track). At least, that used to be the problem with bootable CD's, I do not know if Pat's still using iso9660 on the DVD too or switched to udf (which shouldn't need the extra boot track). -- ****************************************************************** ** Eef Hartman, Delft University of Technology, dept. I want the DVD so I can use it to install on every machine that comes into my province. > > PS: the reason the MD5 sums are different on the DVD themself > is probably that because the disk is BOOTABLE there is more than > one track in the iso file, while "md5sum /dev/dvd" likely only > tests a single track (when you MOUNT it you get the "data" track, > when you BOOT it you get the isolinux "boot" track). > At least, that used to be the problem with bootable CD's, I do not > know if Pat's still using iso9660 on the DVD too or switched to > udf (which shouldn't need the extra boot track). Something might have changed in that respect between 13.0 and 13.1 |
