Multi-page tiff are handled by MS Document Imaging, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, as well as 3rd party fax software and Adobe Acrobat.

As I am not a fan of MS Document Imaging (I have used it but just think other programs do a better job) I don't need the .tif file format. When I scan multipage documents I prefer to have each page as a separate file (unless running an OCR scan with my OmniPage 16 program.) That way I can use the images much more efficiently in programs that don't handle multi-image .tif files well or at all.
