From: ellebelle on 17 Mar 2010 03:37 I would like to add the same task underneath multiple headings in my project file. For example. I have many many jobs. Each job is split into sub tasks. Is there a way to add a new generic Task 4 to each Job automatically. ie. without maunally copying and pasting each row? Job 1 (heading) Task 1 Task 2 Task 3 Job 2 (heading) Task 1 Task 2 Task 3 My file has many many thousands of jobs and the directory structure is more complex than this example, however I am hoping to adapt any advise I get. Many thanks!
From: Trevor Rabey on 17 Mar 2010 04:12 MS EXCEL and MS WORD are good text editing tools. In EXCEL there is concatenation (joining text and values) and lots of text functions. If I had your exact problem, I would first of all insert all of the blank rows where Task 4 should go in the MSP file, then copy all of the tasks and paste them to a ccolumn in an EXCEL worksheet. Then in the column next to that, the word "Task" and in the column next to that the numbers 1,2,3,4, then next to that a formula like = B1&" "&C1, then copy all of those and paste into the MSP file. But there are lots of different situations and lots of fast ways to do the editing, such as global replace, Fill-Down, and many can be done inside MSP. I can be more specific if you send it to me and tell me what you want on what line, and I will do it and send it straight back. -- Trevor Rabey 0407213955 61 8 92727485 PERFECT PROJECT PLANNING www.perfectproject.com.au "ellebelle" <ellebelle(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:52D6FEE8-EA9A-4D66-9FF2-6D0290D59AA0(a)microsoft.com... >I would like to add the same task underneath multiple headings in my >project > file. > > For example.
