The freshly installed Squeeze is working almost as well
as Lenny did before Xmas. The Squeeze system routes
and masquerades and runs one end of an OpenVPN tunnel
properly.

These problems exist.
* Another machine in the LAN can ssh to the Squeeze
system but can not telnet to it.
* Another machine in the LAN can retrieve a file
from the Squeeze system by FTP but can not put a
file there.
* Another machine in the LAN can not get a time
stamp from the Squeeze system via daytime.

/etc/pam.d/vsftpd and /etc/pam.d/sshd exist,
whereas /etc/pam.d/telnetd and /etc/pam.d/daytime
do not. There is no /usr/share/doc/pam.

Are the failures a consequence of pam configuration?
If so, where is documentation to make an
/etc/pam.d/telnetd?

Thanks for any ideas, ... Peter E.
