OK, since students have trouble remembering trig ratio definitions,
and since they use the silly but effective mnemonic SOH CAH TOA, I
figure we may as well codify this into the terminology proper.
Specifically, I propose we officially rename the trig functions as
follows:

sin -> soh
cos -> cah
tan -> toa

csc -> sho (pronounced "show")
sec -> cha (pronounced as in "cha ching")
cot -> tao (pronounced as in "the tao of steve")

This way, the ratios are built right into the names themselves.

Do I have any takers?

What about dysfunctional people such as myself who cannot see the difference
between tao and toa? Could lead to a lot of mistakes.

Hmmm, I didn't think of that; dyslexic people. That's what I'd call
you, not dysfunctional. Well, can you at least *hear* the difference
between tao and toa? I'm not ready to jump ship just yet...

Easy,
Not?

The Tao that is seen is not the true Tao, until you bring fresh toner.
