Next: Is Word Converter Compatible with Server 2008??????
From: Amrik on 24 Mar 2010 09:15 I have a user who experiences problems with MS Word 2003. When the user opens a word file his laptop hangs (crashes) the user is always forced to manually shut down ths laptop, he is unable to get into task manager and see what is happening. When I looked at this problem myself I found that when I delete the normal.dot file ths problem was alleviated, however the user open tens of word docs everyday and has some saved on his local disk, some on shared folders on a f/p server. My thougts are that there may be a corrupt word file(s) somewhere and when the user open it his normal.dot file becoms corrupted, however I am not very experienced in trouble shooting MS Office problems so I am seeking any help/advise, is there any such tool that can be scan word files for any errors? Details: MS Office 2003 with SP3, XP Pro SP3, I have re-installed XP Pro and MS Office on theusers laptop and even issued him a new laptop.
