Hello! I have an o1v96 unit that will randomly reboot itself some time
after being powered but will eventually become stable and have great
uptime, like 10+ days, if not power cycled. Any idea? I thought about
opening it up to check for loose connections or obvious damages. Looks
like a thermal issue. Power supply maybe?

Thanks!

Probably failing electrolytics, hopefully obviously bulging or leaking.

I have one doing the same thing. Sometimes it reboots itself and is
fine. Sometimes it goes into a continuous reboot loop and has to be
power cycled to fix and sometimes it reboots to a back-lit, but blank
screen, with no audio thru. Have had it into Yamaha service twice and
they've been unable to replicate the behaviour on the bench. They
replaced the power supply and did some other stuff. Both times it was
sent back unrepaired; with an invoice due! The second time, they
replaced a couple of dodgy op-amps, but the problem persisted. So, I
had to buy another one for live use. I couldn't afford anymore
shutdowns mid-set during shows; even though, after the first time, it
was stable for the rest of the night. I just use this one to mix/
master my live Digiface recordings at home, where an unexpected
shutdown isn't quite so embarrassing. Now, I have a fader motor on ch.
6 starting to act up. I think I have a lemon, but I got the thing on
flea-bay and it was fine for 2 years, before it started acting up...

If you figure out what's wrong with yours, let me know...

If it was a computer I would suspect bad power supply, bad RAM chips or a
dodgy cooling fan on the CPU.

I've lost count of the times I've fixed these exact symptoms by replacing
one of the above. Had one last week that is now solidly fixed.

Of course a digital console is computer, but with a number of big twists.

No way would I suspect problems with the analog side of the box, other than
the power supply.

Thanks all.
