From: Help_needed on 7 Mar 2010 02:13 I am trying to use Scansoft to convert ocr files to WORD 2002. When they display in WORD there is a grey box around text. Also, the first character, an ordered alpha is uneditable. All othere text is all right.

OCR software comes in varying abilities and none of it is perfect. Some format with frames or text boxes which make editing a nightmare. Others are simply poor at translating. In your case it seems that you may have both problems. It may help to scan to plain text (which doesn't support frames or text boxes) and add the formatting yourself. You could ask a ScanSoft forum how best to setup the software to work with Word. It may, for example, be possible to set it not to use frames. -- <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>><<> Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>><<> "Help_needed" <Help_needed(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:C3E3A990-0CF2-48B2-A8A9-E61BDC509DEB(a)microsoft.com... >I am trying to use Scansoft to convert ocr files to WORD 2002. > When they display in WORD there is a grey box around text. > Also, the first character, an ordered alpha is uneditable.
