From: Scott on 1 Mar 2010 20:53 outlook 2003 is MIA I did a detect and repair in excel 03 and after that outlook gives me error message; the operation failed due to an installation problem. Restart outlook and try again. If problem persists, please reinstall. Well my cd from original purchase will not load. The file on the disk come up but it will not run set-up. error message; the installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it. So I installed office pro 2007 trial version and followed instructions hoping I would get outlook 2007 and be able to access folders in otlook 03. But outlook 07 does not install and yes I read the message on how to install outlook 07 and remove 03. I just ran office diagnostic and it detected all 07 product for office 07(except outlook) and only found outlook 03 not any other office 03 products which still work and I did not remove them

If you run the repair install from Add/Remove Programs, can you designate the installation disk as the repair source? Do you have a folder called MSOCache on your hard drive? Did you change hard drives at all between when this worked and now? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook]
From: Scott on 2 Mar 2010 16:36 What I want to find is my personal folder files which contain emails that I need as well as contacts list. I uninstalled 07 and reinstalled all 03 products. From: Scott on 2 Mar 2010 16:41 I did a search for .pst files to no avail. I did not change hard drives. It quit working after a detect and repair in Excel 2003.
