From: beet on 9 Feb 2010 13:44 A new user: my pine has been set to download all emails from server to the local folder mbox and delete all on the server. Is there anyway that I can copy emails in local folder back to the server? Thanks a lot. Beet

You can copy the mbox to the directory on the server with ftp but The messages may still be on the server (marked deleted but not expunged). Of course you need an IMAP4 client that can show you deleted messages so you can can undelete them, and propagate the flags to the server. > putting the emails back on the server isn't possible. I don't think this is a limitation of IMAP4; maybe only of Pine. The protocol can be used to re-create the messages in that folder (APPEND command). It doesn't look like their sequence can be preserved though. It would be astonishing if there didn't exist a utility for taking messages in mbox format and uploading them to an IMAP server. Doing a Google for "IMAP4 mbox upload", one of the first hits takes us to. http://imap-upload.sourceforge.net ``IMAP Upload is a tool for uploading a local mbox file to IMAP4 server''.
