From: ThatsIT on 18 May 2010 11:34 I have SBS 2000 with Exchange 2000 on a remote server where i host web sites. i have a domain lets say 123.com with dns point too the remote server, but a MX record pointing the email to my home server lets say abc.com. this works fine. but when i send a email to myself from a web site on my remote server i have problems because it looks st the dns on the same network and sees that it is the destination server, to get around this I put a mx record in pointing maill to abc.com. this was working fine but i noticved recently that it was no longer sending email to me. Having a look in theracking tool and find that it starts outbound transfere of mesaage then generates a NDR Because this has not been working for a few days I can not say if i have changed anything in that time, i cant think of anything. Anyone have any ideas? Because im out of them
From: John Oliver, Jr. [MVP] on 18 May 2010 15:37 So how many Exchange Servers do you have? One at the remote hosting site (SBS 2000) and one at home? Which server is responsible for your internet domain? Please verify which domains you are talking about as its confusing if you are referring to internal AD domains or external internet domains. -- John Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2010 Microsoft Certified Partner "ThatsIT" <me(a)home> wrote in message news:O3Plp#p9KHA.5592(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > I have SBS 2000 with Exchange 2000 on a remote server where i host web > sites. > i have a domain lets say 123.com with dns point too the remote server, but > a MX record pointing the email to my home server lets say abc.com. this > works fine. > but when i send a email to myself from a web site on my remote server i > have problems because it looks st the dns on the same network and sees > that it is the destination server, to get around this I put a mx record in > pointing maill to abc.com. this was working fine but i noticved recently > that it was no longer sending email to me. > Having a look in theracking tool and find that it starts outbound > transfere of mesaage then generates a NDR > Because this has not been working for a few days I can not say if i have > changed anything in that time, i cant think of anything. > > Anyone have any ideas? From: John Oliver, Jr. [MVP] on 22 May 2010 08:28 If both Servers are not part the same Exchange Org then having them both setup/responsible for your internet mail domain is not going to work successfully. For this web app, can you not just setup a SMTP relay and authenticate to your Exchange Home Server to allow it to send mail off of it? -- John Oliver, Jr MCSE, MCT, CCNA Exchange MVP 2010 Microsoft Certified Partner "ThatsIT" <me(a)home> wrote in message news:OL6fwKx9KHA.3880(a)TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > > "John Oliver, Jr. [MVP]" <jcoliverjr(a)hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:DA023F9C-A1A4-4F47-9906-DACC6AFE5F7E(a)microsoft.com... >> So how many Exchange Servers do you have?
