hi,

i want to install servicepack 2 for windows server 2008. looking at the
options, i am pretty much astonished that "nobackup" (or similiar) has
disappeared now. this annoys me as i do have only 1 gb left on my partion c:,
where windows is installed (which is 10 gb altogether).

when installing servicepack 2 it tells me that it needs 4 gb of free space,
which for sure is not given on my virtual machine. my question: what can i do
in this situation?

note 1: as this is a virtual image i cannot use a tool like partition magic
for some reason.

note 2: there is no application installed on c: to install in case.

Why would partition magic not work with a vm ? Why did you create a 10G
vhd for a server?

You should be able to expand the partition if you first increase the
size of the vhd file.

Use vhdtool to extend the vhd. There is no need for any sort of 3rd
party tool in this situation, one of the many advantages of virtualisation.
