with this command:

> steef(a)lenny:~$ mencoder /home/steef/Desktop/beast.mkv -ovc lavc
> vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vbitrate=-700000 -oac mp3lame -lameopts vbr=3 -o
> /home/steef/Desktop/beast.avi
it is possible to convert .mkv-files into .avi files. only the
picture-quality is really bad in the derived .avi-file. what can i do to
make this better allthough googling && told me a vbitrate of -700000
should give dvd-quality. the output however is not better than a
(v)bitrate of 400. what did i do wrong or, maybe, good.
