From: ED on 4 Dec 2008 13:34 Hi All, One of our users experience a power outage in the middle of downloading his email via POP3. The emails were not saved in outlook and are no longer in his exchange mailbox. I can get the list of emails using "Message Tracking", but how can I recover them and put them in his inbox? There aren't that many, so I can do it one at a time if necessary. Any help is appreciated. ED

If its under the time limit, you can recover those emails from the dumpster under the inbox using Outlook in mapi mode ( Tools/Recover Deleted Items ) highligting the inbox. If this Outlook 2007, its enabled already. If not: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997155.aspx?ppud=4
From: ED on 4 Dec 2008 14:16 Thanks for the quick reply. User is using Outlook Express. So I need to recover from the server (Exchange 2007 SP1), unless it can be done through OWA. It is under the deleted item retention period, however, does this also apply to POP3? Thanks, ED. Yes, because the items are in an Exchange mailbox, they are still accessible from the dumpster. When you download items with a pop3 client, you are essentially hard-deleting the items as they are removed from the inbox. > >Thanks, >ED. > >"Andy David {MVP}" <adavid(a)pleasekeepinngcheesebucket.com> wrote in message >news:f29gj4lmo6q1uvhoo1c67i1hmbvi05megt(a)4ax.com... >On Thu, 4 Dec 2008 10:34:00 -0800, "ED" <nospam(a)thankyou.com> wrote: > >>Hi All, >> >>One of our users experience a power outage in the middle of downloading his >email via POP3. I would configure a profile for that mailbox, logon to it using Outlook, and recover the way Andy described... -- Susan Conkey [MVP] "ED" <nospam(a)thankyou.com> wrote in message news:uPL5lUkVJHA.4876(a)TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Thanks for the quick reply. > User is using Outlook Express.
