From: Bonno Bloksma on 23 Feb 2010 09:04 Hi, It seems I need to get my hands on a Windows 2008 R2 server asap and see if indeed several things have been changed as once more I started doubting myself, but it turned out Windows was doing something strange. :-( On a Windows 2008 server select Start, Shutdown. By default the shutdown event tracker pops up and ask the standard question we've come to know from Windows 2003 servers. Unlike Windows 2003 there is no selection box for the requested action where one can see what the requested action was, whether that was a restart or a shutdown. The titlebar however shows: "Shut Down Windows" so that is obvious, right? No it's not, if the selected action is a restart exactly the same information will be show, titlebar will be "Shut Down Windows" and nothing to indicate it was not a shutdown but a restart that was requested. So if one makes a slight error in clicking on the correct menuoption, they are next to each other after all, there is nothing to indicate so. Did Microsoft change this in Windows 2008 R2 so one can see what action was selected or is the same problem there as well? Bonno Bloksma

Just checked on an R1 and R2 box, the behaviour is still the same in R2. -- Chris M.

Ok, can some of the MVPs please report this to the proper channel at Microsoft? I don't think there is a place for a simple MSCE to report this. At least I have not found such a place so far. It would be nice if this can be changed in a future servicepack. Just changing the title bar would be enough. Bonno Bloksma

Found where I can report this feature request as there is a link in the Windows 2008 server manager screen. ;-) Bonno Bloksma
