From: KenP on 2 Jul 2010 12:02 Win XP pro laptop, version 5., sp3. Every time I try to do anything I get rundll32.exe cannot be found. When I try to open a program, I get the Open With window with nothing that works. I suspect a virus or the like but can't run AV or anything else to try to locate culprit. I tried running repair w/XP Pro cd and do not get repair option. I loaded rundll32.exe from another machine and nothing changed. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Kenp
From: Ǝиçεl on 2 Jul 2010 12:32 Hello Ken, SUPERAntiSpyware just put up a Online Safe Scan at <http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html> if you cannot install and/or run the current SUPERAntiSpyware pяoduct due to an infection. -=- "KenP" wrote: > Win XP pro laptop, version 5., sp3. > > Every time I try to do anything I get rundll32.exe cannot be found. From: PA Bear [MS MVP] on 2 Jul 2010 12:35 What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)? Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? From: KenP on 2 Jul 2010 13:01 I found another XP Pro installation CD and can get to the repair function (Press Enter, F8 and then R option) but every time it starts the laptop shutsdown. I also noticed that when I put the cd in the drive, it pops back open several times and I have to keep pushing it back in till it finally loads. Other than that, it will sit there and run all day.
