I just read this and want to know if it's true,

"If you look at the transfer function closely, you will notice that there is a pole-zero cancellation at the origin Matlab does not automatically cancel the pole and zero. As a result, it can cause confusion in the root locus plot, so it is best to eliminate it now."

I have a zero at the origin and I added integral control, but I noticed that pink square in the sisotool is at the origin. This pink square should not be there, right? When a zero and pole cancel there's not CL pole at that location, right? I think this just solved a big issue I was having. Can anyone confirm this?

I learned the answer to my own question in case anyone wanted to know.

MATLAB does not cancel pole-zeros at the same location. "minreal" is a MATLAB command that forces pole zero cancellation.
