Only if you have a duplicate controller as a failsafe or you're not
worry about portability. Let's see the OP's answer to Ari's question,
but software RAID (& fakeRAID) are viable choices.

IMO if you want a fast data disk. Striping [RAID 0] two SCSI disks is
impressive, but anything else go for hardware.
