From: Paul Douglas Franklin on 19 Jan 2010 14:38 And, in addition, if it brings wider distribution, then there is some benefit in it. I would add this proviso: those who charge for a CD or DVD *should* say that it is available as a free download, but that they will provide a convenient CD or DVD for a small charge. It is an unfortunate fact of human psychology that there are those who find value only in what they pay for. --Paul Rob Clement wrote: > On 18/01/2010 23:01, Donald Spencer wrote: >> this made me so made that someone would sell a link to were they can >> download openoffice.org for 7.95, some thing needs to be done. >> > Donald > > If you check it is not against the terms and conditions to charge when > people send a CD or DVD of the download. The magazine I purchased was indeed overpriced (it included a DVD but so what?) although it was the cheapest printed documenation I could find. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: discuss-unsubscribe(a)openoffice.org For additional commands, e-mail: discuss-help(a)openoffice.org

Some time ago I posted the suggestion that a prominent notice should be posted on the web site next to the download button to the effect that "This product is free to download. If you have paid to be provided with this link demand a refund or contest the charge with your credit card company." -- Bob Holtzman GPG key ID = 8D549279 If you think you're getting free lunch check the price of the beer.
