I have Tiger with DSL and accounts with 3 pop servers. Tonight I
started my computer, loaded Mail.app, and clicked "Get Mail" Apparently
I wasn't online until a moment later. The busy symbols for all three
accounts kept spinning.

Quitting and restarting Mail didn't fix it. Neither did logging off and
back on. Restarting fixed it.

This problem occurs fairly often. For example, it may happen if I lose
my connection while the computer sleeps, and Mail automatically checks
for mail upon waking.

What causes Mail.app to jam this way? Can it be fixed without restarting?
