Campbell, J.P., “Speaker recognition: a tutorial,” Proceedings of the IEEE, vol. 85, no. 9, pp. 1437–1462, Sep 1997. and Kinnunen's recent paper T. Kinnunen and H. Li, “An overview of text-independent speaker recognition: From features to supervectors,” Speech Communication, vol. 52, no. 1, pp. 12 – 40, 2010. are good start.
