The only remaining viable "problem" is the idea of rolling the sphere around the pseudosphere and seeing where the pseudosphere has an area-contact, not when the sphere is motionless but as it rolls around the pseudosphere. It looks as though near the polar spines of the pseudosphere that the area-contact is the greatest.
