Now is a great time to point you to one of the easiest ways to find information on problems you may be having and solutions others have found: Search using Google! http://www.google.com/ (How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html ) Specific example... A seach like this: http://www.google.com/search?q=stop+%22Shortcut+to%22+from+appearing+on+new+shortcuts+in+%22Windows+XP%22 Might lead to: http://www.generation-nt.com/us/answer/how-can-i-prevent-shortcut-prefix-newly-created-shortcuts-help-92831852.html Where it tells you to use TweakUI, specifically "It's one of the choices under Explorer. Uncheck the box "Prefix 'Shortcut to' on new shortcuts." " Come back, reply to this conversation and let everyone know (for posterity/future searches) if this worked for you. -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Download the [small & free] program from Microsoft called TweakUI.exe by clicking on the link below.
