From: Rob Christiansen on 25 Apr 2010 14:26 ok, in my script i extract data from one record/feild in a *.MBD file. i must then tear that variable down into its induvidual characters or subsets. i have done that with an ascii file - (wordsubset = text_stream.Read(1) ) but never with a *.MBD file or a variable. In 'C' i would use getc or just variable[x]. Could you help me out? sql = "SELECT * FROM santa1 "; var rs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet") rs.Open (sql, ConnectionObject) // RS = var splitname = new Array(); var Recnum = new Object(); Recnum.Read(); <-- do I inherite? while(! (rs.EOF)) { //567 if( rs("id").Value == 25 ) break rs.MoveNext( ) } //567 //------- doesn't work ----------------- Recnum = rs("smessage").Value //<-- read feild into object name1 = Recnum.Read(1); //<-- extracct one character Response.Write( "name1 = "+ name1 +"<br>" ); //Response.end(); //------------- doesn't work ----------------- splitname[0] = rs("smessage").Value[0]; Response.Write( "splitname[0]= "+ splitname[0]+"<br>" ); //Response.end(); crazyswede *** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***
