From: Rick Rothstein on 20 Dec 2009 10:12 I find it easier to get to the Format Cells dialog box by simply right clicking the selected cell or cells and picking Format Cells from the popup menu that appears. -- Rick (MVP - Excel) "trip_to_tokyo" <info(a)pierrefondes.com> wrote in message news:64CF45A6-DAD0-4B3D-9EA4-B49BDC858ED1(a)microsoft.com... > . . so in EXCEL 2007 that would be:- > > - Home group > > - Font then click on the arrow in the lower right hand corner > > - Format Cells should launch > > - Number tab > > - select Text on the left hand side (by clicking it) > > - OK > > You should then be able to get @image into the cell. > > Please hit Yes if my comments have helped. > > Thanks! > > > "dudemanmax" wrote: > >> Excel 2007. >> >> I need to have some cells with a @ character at the start of them. From: Chip Pearson on 20 Dec 2009 11:56 If I recall correctly, formulas in Lotus 123 started with an @ character, so Excel is treating the @ as some sort of Lotus holdover. You can type an apostrophe ( ' ) as the first character in the cell to indicate that what follows is literal text, not to be interpreted in any way. The apostrophe will not show in the cell, but will show in the formula bar.
