I'm looking for some simple software that will "speak" the words written in
notepad for me.

Thanks.

Martin

Hi Martin:

Try:
http://www.screenreader.net/index.php?section=Thunder%20and%20Manuals
http://inspiredcode.net/4VisImp.htm (scroll down to SayPad)

I haven't tried the first. The second installs OK but fails on
installing the "Mary" voice on my XP system. It still works with a male
voice, though. You need to paste your text into its SayPad window.

There are also a bunch to explore at

and

http://www.freewarefiles.com/cat_9_105_Text2Speech.html

Good luck.

Cheers.

Narrator is built into Windows XP and Windows 2000.
Have fun!

It's been a while now, but a year or two ago I set up a 'speaking
laptop' for my father after he had a serious stroke.
If you do a search on this group using my ID and the phrase 'text to
speech', you should come up with some useful info.
I recall I ended up using two or three separate programs, linking them
together with Autoit ( a scripting module ). It worked very well.

Regards,
