On the contrary. Oppresive religions compel people to search
consolation in Mathematics.
Islamism and communism have not impeded to produce fine Mathematics.

THIS is not a religious thing , this was not a Hindu discovery by
far , but like the Jesuits, the Hindu Brahmins/ pundits, who has
origins in Germanic Sanskrit. A ten digit number system is not a
great brainer , there are ten fingers, they count with those. Those
were the hey days opf the King ASOKA empires that promoted freedom
from opression of the Mind. The wose things happened to Indian
mathematics after that for 10 centuries in that there was no freedom,
or freedom from the caste systems as the bahmins got diluted . If you
then want to clain this as Hindu Mathematics , you should claim this
is German roots , because the Aryas of India came from that Eurasia
and invaded the dravidians

That's inexact.
First, the triumph was not the decimal system but the positional
system.
Second, the Aryans invasors were not Germans but Iranians.

Given N non-zero "digits" the natural base is N+1

Ten fingers would lead to a base 11 number system, not a base 10
system.
