When starting firefox I got some error messages that I can,t remember
(where do they go?), something about "server" and "not being able to
something".

I looked at /var/log/messages:

-----------------------------------------------------------
Jan 17 11:19:04 a88-114-155-254 gconfd (username-13739):
Failed to get lock for daemon, exiting:
Failed to lock '/tmp/gconfd-username/lock/ior':
probably another process has the lock, or
your operating system has NFS file locking misconfigured
(Resource temporarily unavailable)
-----------------------------------------------------------

So it said there was a problem with '/tmp/gconfd-username/lock/ior'

I renamed that file and started FF again.

Now I got this in /var/log/messages:

-------------------------------------------------------------
Jan 17 11:21:35 a88-114-155-254 gconfd (username-13904):
Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" to a
read-only configuration source at position 0

Resolved address "xml:readwrite:/home/username/.gconf" to a writable
configuration source at position 1

Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults" to a
read-only configuration source at position 2

Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.vendor" to a
read-only configuration source at position 3

Resolved address "xml:readonly:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.schemas" to a
read-only configuration source at position 4

----------------------------------------------------------------

After all this there does not seem to be any problems.
Are those read-onlys and writables cool now?

I'm just wondering, and kinda trying to understand what had happened and
what this file is.
