i work for a media company and i am trying to open a .dir file with director mx. but it keeps telling me that the file is protected. how can i open the file and retreave the data??

If it says it is protected, then you can probably not get into it. dir
files are not protected. What probably happened is that someone
protected the file (made it dxr or dcr) and then renamed it back to
..dir. If you do not have access to the actual unprotected sourc file,
then you will most likely not be able to get into it. You can try to
get some of the assets out of it by opening it as a MIAW, but you will
most likely not be able to get any scripts.
