From: AJ Ponzani on 15 Feb 2005 11:54 Here is an example of the error I get when I try to run Windows update for these patches: Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format Here are the actual lines from the Windows Update Log file. 2005-02-15 08:00:29 13:00:29 Error IUENGINE Downloading file http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/WindowsServer2003-KB867282-x86-express-enu_8b74d3f484cfc8bb7621de8ee4b2c15.exe, skipping remaining files for this Item (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.) 2005-02-15 08:00:29 13:00:29 Error IUENGINE Downloading file http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/WindowsServer2003-KB891781-x86-enu_c9dae1914e0cc97df67103236cc8b57.exe, skipping remaining files for this Item (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.) 2005-02-15 08:00:29 13:00:29 Error IUENGINE Downloading file http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/WindowsServer2003-KB886903-x86-ENU_2ddc5bd2256683f85401210ebd2b89f.EXE, skipping remaining files for this Item (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.) Have also had other sporadic errors when installing Updates directly from MS site. This is Server 2003, using v5 update, set to download and install automatically, but most other servers in our enterprise have no problem. Help?
From: Robert Aldwinckle on 19 Feb 2005 20:05 > This is Server 2003, using v5 update Are you sure? The log entries look like WUv4 entries. Note: WUv4 creates and appends to Windows Update.log WUv5 creates and appends to WindowsUpdate.log > (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.) Perhaps the above discrepancy has something to do with your error? Another possibility I suppose would be that if you have a 64-bit server that these files would not be appropriate for it. BTW in case your WUv5 support under WS2003 is a beta version you would be better off looking for support in a newsgroup provided by the beta. (I can't tell what version of WU normal WS2003 users are using but it looks as if they may still be using WUv4. The best I can find is the vague implication that perhaps WS2003sp1RC2 is needed.) http://groups-beta.google.com/group/microsoft.public.winhttp/messages/3fa6bb6a282b339c,75548ea109f0b4f7,aa4404728ad7dd80,6e7655c70756a665?thread_id=1ce2f3694669d039&mode=thread&noheader=1&q=MVP+OR+MSFT+%22windows+server+2003%22++%22windows+update%22+%22version+5%22#doc_3fa6bb6a282b339c (Google Groups search for MVP OR MSFT "windows server 2003" "windows update" "version 5" ) HTH Robert Aldwinckle --- "AJ Ponzani" <ajponzani(a)newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message news:eYdsO83EFHA.3384(a)tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > Here is an example of the error I get when I try to run Windows update for > these patches: > > > Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect > format > > Here are the actual lines from the Windows Update Log file. > > 2005-02-15 08:00:29 13:00:29 Error IUENGINE Downloading file > http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/WindowsServer2003-KB867282-x86-express-enu_8b74d3f484cfc8bb7621de8ee4b2c15.exe, > skipping remaining files for this Item (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was > made to load a program with an incorrect format.) > > 2005-02-15 08:00:29 13:00:29 Error IUENGINE Downloading file > http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/WindowsServer2003-KB891781-x86-enu_c9dae1914e0cc97df67103236cc8b57.exe, > skipping remaining files for this Item (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was > made to load a program with an incorrect format.) > > 2005-02-15 08:00:29 13:00:29 Error IUENGINE Downloading file > http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3-19990518/cabpool/WindowsServer2003-KB886903-x86-ENU_2ddc5bd2256683f85401210ebd2b89f.EXE, > skipping remaining files for this Item (Error 0x8007000B: An attempt was > made to load a program with an incorrect format.) > > Have also had other sporadic errors when installing Updates directly from MS > site.
