I notice that Slack 12.2 doesn't have /usr/dict/words or usr/dict/
websters. Where can you get these files?

So /usr/share/dict/words isn't what you want?

I don't follow where things should be, or why, but the "look" command
expects the dictionary file to be /usr/share/dict/words, so you can
go
look help
and see words in the dictionary that include "help". The man page
says it looks there, so I'm assuming that's where it's expected, and it's
not some quirk of Slackware.

Strange enough, on 13 there is no /usr/share/dict/, only usr/dict/.
Which version are you using?
