The "^" operator can be used instead of POWER() to indicate to what power the
base number is to be raised, such as in 5^2. This returns the result of a
number raised to a power

=POWER(5,2)

the caret symbol(^) mean "raise to the power of"
2^3 means 2 cubed or 2 x 2 x 2 or 8
