From: jay on 17 Jun 2010 14:43 there are some groovy new chips out there w/ connections geared toward GPU boards. assuming i can find a motherboard for the AMD 6100, AMD RS5690 chipset, what's involved in getting them to run solaris? drivers, sure, but is writing a driver a hopeless task? i've written drivers before (long time ago) but not for a motherboard. is the info one needs just not available? is there more than the chipset to worry about? or is the problem knitting it in to the solaris distribution? i tried making a custom dvd of solaris long ago, didn't get very far. but i didn't try all that hard, either. in short, what are the sticking points, and are they really hard to do or just not commonly done? thx. j. |
