I have Winows XP and have no idea how to find the archive file. I used to
have an icon on the desk top but that has disappeared.
Any help would be appreciated.

Your question does not have anything to do with Word. Autoarchiving is a
feature of Outlook. Was archiving of mail items that you were thinking of?
