From: Sharrona on 23 Mar 2010 12:27 converted my 2003 doc to 2007 docx... went to insert some cross-references and none of my exhibit (30+) captions are displayed in the cross-reference dialog box... but the captions in the doc are numbered correctly and are also updating in the TOC List of Exhibits... Need help where to find them - thanks
From: Suzanne S. Barnhill on 23 Mar 2010 13:51 Captions are displayed in the Cross-reference dialog only if you have created the caption label through Insert | Reference | Caption. If you create them manually, you can create fields and styles that look identical to the ones Word creates, but Word will not recognize them. Also, the caption labels are stored locally and will not transfer if you move a document to another system. If the List of Exhibits is based on the style used for the captions (Caption or some other), it will be correct regardless of how the captions were created. -- Suzanne S. To add to what Suzanne has said, the caption labels are stored in normal.dotm. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Suzanne S.
