Hi all,
I was trying to install windows server 2003 enterprise (evaluation version)
in a second partition; however, it stops with a blue screen during copying
the files.

error message " A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down
to prevent damage to your computer .
.......
.......
Check for any viruses on your computer.....
..... "

The computer is new and it has windows 7 installed in the first partition.
I didn't have any problem installing in an older computer.

Any help is really appreciated.

TIA

BSOD during setup of Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP can be linked to
missing mass storage driver (SATA, SCSI, RAID etc).

Get a suitable mass storage driver and copy it to a diskette. Insert
diskette. Select boot option so that CD boot is first in order. Reboot the
system and observe bottom line on the console. When prompted, press F6 to
indicate that you want to install additional mass storage driver.

Perhaps the KB article below may help. It mentions SCSI, but is equally
aplicable to recent SATA controllers.

Dusko has a good idea about the cause.

Be careful, though, about installing it on a W7 computer. 2003 is XP
based. If you install XP on a computer with W7, you will lose access to
the W7 partition.

Do some research first for techniques on how to install an XP based OS
after W7. Normally, one installs the older OS and then the new one.
