For Office updates, the 646 error is usually resolved by inserting the Office CD *prior* to the attempted installation of the updates or by manually downloading the full file versions of the updates from the MS Download Center and then installing them manually: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ MowGreen ================ *-343-* FDNY Never Forgotten ================ banthecheck.com "Security updates should *never* have *non-security content* prechecked
From: Andrew on 13 May 2010 22:28 Inserting the Office CD is not the answer. When my computer specialist installed Office 2007 for me, Microsoft no longer gave you physical CD's. They required that you purchase it and download it directly from Microsoft website. So although I have a full professional version of Office 2007, Microsoft did not provide physical CD's and therefore that is not a solution I can use. From: Skye1016 on 14 May 2010 01:41 The "manually downloading the full file versions of the updates from the MS Download Center and then installing them manually: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/" worked perfectly for me. I usually I have so much trouble with trying to install difficult updates and have to get help with them from people more tech savvy. Thank you.
