Has anyone done any 2-pass x264 encoding with 13.1 yet?
I had things set up in wine 1.1.19 under Slack 12.2 very nicely (with familiar software), and everything except the x264-related things seem to work under wine 1.2 in Slack 13.1 (XviD encoding works, for instance). Figured I could probably make the transition to mencoder for video encoding, built g/mplayer/mencoder with vdpau and x264-encoding support, but can only perform the first analysis pass on my video - the encoding phase crashes about 8% into an encode. Tried on a couple of different VOBs. When x264 first started crashing in Wine, I figured it was just a Wine problem, but now that it is happening (with a very basic set of switches) under mencoder & linux, am wondering if it is maybe an issue with the distribution. Unless, of course, someone else has been successful using x264 encoding.

Have you tried FFmpeg and the x264 presets? This works without fail
under 13.1 and svn FFmpeg + git x264.

How long ago did you compile x264? I noticed in the changelog today they mention having broken 2-pass encoding, figured they'd fixed it, but I'm still segfaulting.

that was with mencoder.

Confirmed, ffmpeg follows through completely. Guess it's time to crawl onto the shallow end of the ffmpeg curve -sigh-...
