Some Floppy drives need 5V only. In this case, a 5V power supply will do. I plan to use my 1581 board in my C64DTV project together with a slimline laptop floppy drive, so I can run all components from a single 5V source. But I saw normal sized 3,5" HD drives with 5V as well. Nicolas
